How we rank products

The main things that decide the order of products you see on IndianBrand, explained in plain language.

Sponsored listings

No seller or brand can pay to be placed higher on IndianBrand today. If we ever offer paid placements, every paid product will carry a clear “Sponsored” label wherever it appears, and this page will be updated first.

Default order on product listings

Products are ordered by how many times they have been bought on IndianBrand (best sellers first).
You can change the order at any time with the Sort menu: newest, oldest, price low to high or price high to low.
Filters (category, brand, price, rating, state of origin, GI tag and others) only narrow the list. They never push a product up or down.

Browsing modes

IndianBrand has two browsing modes, chosen by you and changeable any time from the header. “Regular” mixes brands normally.
“Maximizing Indian Brands” shows Indian brands first, then joint ventures, then global brands. A product's group comes from the brand's ownership and where the product is made, as declared by the seller and checked by our team.

Search results

Search matches the words you type against product names, tags and SKU codes. Products whose name starts with your search term are shown before other matches.
We count what people search for (the words only, not who searched) to decide which popular products to add to the catalogue.

Products added from brand websites

Some products are added from Indian brands' own websites. We only add products from established brands, with a photo, a price and a rating of at least 4.0 from at least 25 buyers on the brand's site, and we add the most-rated ones first.
Until a product has reviews on IndianBrand, its card shows the rating from the brand's website, clearly labelled as such.

Discounts and crossed-out prices

When we show a discount, the crossed-out price is the lowest price the product sold at on IndianBrand in the 30 days before the discount started. If there was no real price drop, we don't show a discount.
